They are light weight and are designed aerodynamically to achieve high speed

The sitting position is ‘C’ shape in a road bike to achieve aerodynamic position

Racing bike

Racing bikes have drop handle bars to attain high speed

TT bike

TT bikes have aero bars to get maximum speed and more aerodynamic position with more comfort

TT bikes are also called Triathlon bikes or Time Trial bikes

Hybrid bikes

Hybrids bikes are a fusion of mountain and road bike. The sitting position on a hybrid is similar to the position of mountain bike, which is more comfortable than road bike and to achieve better speed the tires are slick with a bigger wheel size for more rotation per minute. Hybrids are ideal for city use or daily commuting because it gives comfort as well as speed.
Hybrids have a 28inch wheel size
Hybrids also have two sub-categories

Road focused

Hybrid bikes without front shocker are road focused hybrids that are ideal for city ride.

Mountain focused

Hybrid bikes with front suspension are called mountain focused hybrids and can be used for occasional off road terrains as well as on city roads. They are generally heavy in size as compared to road focused hybrids

BMX bikes

They are mainly used for stunting purpose with a 20’’ wheel size. These bikes do not have any suspension but are used for extreme sports.

Tandem bikes

These are special bikes with extra seat and pedal at the back. Also  known as a couple bike because it  is meant for  two people to ride at the same time.
